Frequently Asked Questions with Answers

  • GT display shows INACCURATE most of the time and acceleration measurements often fail. Why is this?
  • GT monitors signal accuracy constantly, and INACCURATE is shown if acceleration measurements are not possible because the results would not be precise enough. Try to relocate the GPS receiver so that it has a better view of the sky. Note that sometimes it takes up to fifteen minutes for the GPS receiver to connect to all available satellites.
  • I have problems connecting my phone to my PC. How can I install GT?
  • You can load GT, GTi or GTx directly to your phone with your phone’s web browser. Type the web address www.tempes.com/cgi-bin/counter_gt.cgi to load GT, www.tempes.com/cgi-bin/counter_gti.cgi to load GTi or www.tempes.com/cgi-bin/counter_gtx.cgi to load GTx.
  • If I upgrade my phone (which I do almost yearly) will I be able to request a new registration code for the new phone at no cost?
  • We will provide new registration codes at no cost (within reason, e.g. once a year) for our customers.
  • I do not have a credit card. Are there other methods of payment?
  • Now you can pay also via bank transfer. When you are transferred to PayPal's page in the registration process, click Cancel and you get the necessary information.
  • When I start GT V1.0, it says "Connected" in the status line but nothing happens. Navicore works fine with the GPS receiver. What should I do?
  • Please upgrade to GT V2.0 (see the next question below). Navicore changes the settings of some GPS receivers which causes GT to fail. The new version of GT changes the GPS receiver settings back so that GT and Navicore can co-exist. Another option is to remove the GPS receiver battery for a while (if this is possible), which should reset the GPS receiver to factory settings.
  • How much does it cost to upgrade to a new version? Do I lose my result files and navigation destinations when I upgrade? Is there a need for registration?
  • Upgrading is free. GT and GTi: Do not remove the old version, just install the new version which replaces the old one. This way the old result files and navigation destinations remain intact and registration is not needed. If you have removed the old version, you should enter the same registration code as in the previous version. If you have lost your registration code please contact support@tempes.com. GTx: Uninstall the old version of GTx before upgrade (navigation destinations are lost) and send the IMEI code to support@tempes.com to get a new free registration code.
  • Why do I get a warning when I install GT: "Security warning. Unable to verify supplier. Continue anyway?" Does the installation file contain a virus?
  • S60 applications can be digitally signed for authentication. GTx is digitally signed, but GT and GTi are not. You can continue installation if you have downloaded the installation file from our download page.
  • How can I graph results with Excel?
  • Send the result file to PC (Options/Results/Open/Send) via e.g. email or Bluetooth. Your PC should open the file with Notepad when you double-click it. Copy and paste the data you want to analyse (e.g. lines between 0-10 km/h and 0-100 km/h) to Excel. In Excel click Data/Text to Columns and select Delimited, then select Space and Other as delimiters and type - (dash) as Other. You should now have speed and time values in different columns and can graph the data with e.g. XY chart. You can insert a row with zeroes for speed and time to start the graph at zero.
