Frequently Asked Questions with Answers

  • I paid but did not receive a registration code.
  • The registration code is sent automatically by email to the address given during registration. Sometimes these automatic emails fail to reach yahoo.com addresses. If you have not received your registration code within ten minutes after payment, please contact support@tempes.com. We will then resend your registration code manually.
  • GT display shows INACCURATE most of the time and acceleration measurements often fail. Why is this?
  • GT monitors signal accuracy constantly, and INACCURATE is shown if acceleration measurements are not possible because the results would not be precise enough. Try to relocate the phone or GPS receiver so that it has a better view of the sky. Note that sometimes it takes up to fifteen minutes for the GPS receiver to connect to all available satellites.
  • I have a Nokia N95 with internal GPS receiver, but I want to use an external GPS device. How to change the GPS device?
  • The GPS device selection is in the phone settings. In N95 select Tools / Settings / General / Positioning / Positioning methods and then select "Bluetooth GPS" and deselect "Integrated GPS".
  • I registered but I don’t get acceleration results. Also Results is not visible under Options.
  • To get acceleration results, the top speed should be above the set speed limit (e.g. over 100 km/h for a 0-100 km/h measurement). As car's speedometers often show too large values (e.g. 100 km/h when the actual speed is 94 km/h), you should make sure that you don't decelerate too early. The Results menu item is visible only if there are stored acceleration results.
  • If I upgrade my phone (which I do almost yearly) will I be able to request a new registration code for the new phone at no cost?
  • We will provide new registration codes at no cost (within reason, e.g. once a year) for our customers. Contact support@tempes.com.
  • I do not have a credit card. Are there other methods of payment?
  • Now you can pay also via bank transfer. When you are transferred to PayPal's page in the registration process, click Cancel and you get the necessary information.
  • Why do I get a warning when I install GT: "Security warning. Unable to verify supplier. Continue anyway?" Does the installation file contain a virus?
  • S60 applications can be digitally signed for authentication. GTx is digitally signed, but GT and GTi are not. You can continue installation if you have downloaded the installation file from our download page.
  • How can I graph results with Excel?
  • Send the result file to PC (Options/Results/Open/Send) via e.g. email or Bluetooth. Your PC should open the file with Notepad when you double-click it. Copy and paste the data you want to analyse (e.g. lines between 0-10 km/h and 0-100 km/h) to Excel. In Excel click Data/Text to Columns and select Delimited, then select Space and Other as delimiters and type - (dash) as Other. You should now have speed and time values in different columns and can graph the data with e.g. XY chart. You can insert a row with zeroes for speed and time to start the graph at zero.

Download GT User's Guide.pdf. Note that the GTx version sold at Nokia’s Ovi Store is pre-registered – no registration is needed.
